Anglers were confronted with four seasons in one week at the 2009 One Fly. Brilliant sunshine, cold winds and rain interspersed by calm humid patches encouraged some fish to rise while others burrowed down awaiting settled conditions.

Variable conditions contributed to some tough fishing with anglers adapting their skills and techniques accordingly. Those who found the right answer were rewarded with some very good fish.

Four Casters team captain Russell Hooper . swept the field on the first day landing several good brownies accumulating what was to be an unbeatable score. Consistency and fly retention followed Russell all three days leading his team to overall first place.

In retrospect, new teams and regular visitors coped very well with demanding angling with experiences revisited over drinks or dinner each evening.

Resident songbird Margot Danks was inspired by Bill Beckwith’s want of a sing   song and so the duet entertained the crowd brilliantly.

Bill’s profound effect galvanised Renny Cunnack into song who was once again joined by Margot. Once the ‘Christie Minstrels’ had their singsong, awards, prizes and presentations continued.
           





The largest Rainbow Trophy went to Robbie Danks while Russell Hooper netted the Trophy for largest fish.

The Peter Cullinane award was collected by guide Cameron Reid the very classy   pack rod could not have found a better home.

The ladies attending the event who did not venture onto the river indulged in the usual pastimes of  visiting galleries, potters, shopping and wining and dinning around the district in the company of hostess Janice Williams.




In appreciation of Janice’s time and effort the ladies presented her with garden art which will find a home in her new garden for all to admire.
